In these times with our present national crisis, if you are like me, I catch myself thinking about what can I do to help be part of the solution, rather than being part of the problem It just doesn’t make sense for us to keep polluting our earth, acting like we just don’t care.

Coal provides more of the electricity used in the United States than any other source, and as you probably already know creates an enormous amount of pollutants. In fact, according to Wikipedia, emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases from electricity generation account for a significant portion of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions.

In the United States, electricity generation accounts for nearly 40 percent of the emissions, the largest of any source.... Transportation emissions are close behind, contributing about one-third of the United States’ production of carbon dioxide.

One of the easiest ways we can all contribute to making our carbon footprint a lot lighter is to eliminate our need for supplying our homes with energy that isn’t renewable. This was a major problem, even five years ago. Today however, thanks to new technology, the cost of making your own energy has become a lot more affordable and do-able.

When I first started thinking about using sustainable energy in the spring of 2004, I went out and obtained some bids to make my home self sufficient. The cost to get some professional to build and install the system flabbergasted me. The bids ran from 18,000 to 36,000 dollars so I had to put that idea on hold for a while.

Since that time, good old American ingenuity has solved this problem, Anyone can now afford to have their own home system and, you do not have to rely on the power company! Just think how much money you are throwing away by not supplying your own energy.

Probably an even more important thing to most thinking people, is that your children and grandchildren will thank you for helping to save this planet so they too can have the same beautiful life that we have had.

The best solution for most people is, to Harness the power of the Sun and the Wind. because, this combination will work almost anywhere in any State.
